“Healing?” Barbara said. “I never thought of work as healing. I guess I never thought I needed to be healed. But I would like it.”
“It really isn’t much money.”
“I’m going to get a big settlement from my divorce,” Barbara said. “I don’t need money, I need healing. I’ll take it.”
As she was leaving, Barbara stopped in the doorway and looked in Maggie’s sparkling eyes. “You seem so happy,” Barbara said. “I hope I’m as happy as you some day. So did Prince Charming show up? Did you find a nice guy?”
“I really just started looking recently,” Maggie said. “I dated a few guys when I first moved out here. But I didn’t trust my judgment. I couldn’t even take a chance on kissing them. I have more friends than I have ever had in my life.” She pointed to the pictures on the wall. “I am never lonely. But I think I am ready now. I think God will put a good man in my life soon. I probably already know him. But I am going slow. I’m not going to try to push the river.”
